A tabletop game played in writing, one post at a time, on everyone's own schedule. Instead of gathering for a session, you and your table take turns writing what your characters do, building a story together over weeks or months. There is no clock to beat.

If you enjoy the writing part of roleplaying, yes. Play-by-post trades the live energy of a session for room to think and to write a better post, and it lets a game keep going across busy lives and time zones. Plenty of people run both, with a slower story unfolding here between live sessions.

You can, and plenty of tables do. But a long game in a chat app gets hard to follow. The story scatters across channels, notifications pile up, and dice and characters end up living somewhere else. Ink Raven keeps the writing, the dice, and the characters together.

Ink Raven isn't built around any one system. The dice and tracking are general-purpose, so they handle d20 games, exploding dice, success pools, and your own homebrew. Deeper, built-in support for specific systems is on the roadmap for later.

It is not uncommon for the next post to come a week later. When someone does drift away, recruitment tools make it easy to welcome a new player into a story already under way.

Yes. The free plan lets you play in up to 5 games, run 2 of your own with up to 6 players each, and keep up to 10 characters, with dice, whispers, and safety tools all included. You only pay once you want more than that.

No. Your players can join up to 5 games on the free plan, yours included, without paying anything. Paid plans are for running more or bigger tables, or for playing in more than 5 games at once. You can share the reins with co-gamemasters at no extra charge, though a co-GM still takes one of the game's player seats.

We haven't settled the details yet, but this much we can promise. If a game owner's subscription ends, nothing written in their games is deleted for at least 12 months. That leaves time to resubscribe, or for the table to decide what comes next.

Ink Raven claims no creative ownership of your characters, your stories, or a single word you write. How ownership is shared among a table is for that table to decide. The Terms give Ink Raven permission to store and show your work so your games can run, and for nothing else.

Leaving a game just removes you from it. Your posts, whispers, and characters stay exactly as you wrote them, still under your name, and you can be invited back anytime. Closing your account is different. To protect the shared story, your posts stay in their games. Posts written as a character keep that character's name, and your own name is replaced with 'deleted-user'. Either way, no one else's record of the tale is left with holes in it.

Ink Raven has no generative AI features. Nothing in it writes posts, makes art, or runs your game. Behind the scenes, we use AI tools to help build it, for research and to help write code. Those tools are never used for, or trained on, the gameplay, stories, or art in your games. Those come from people.

Mossy Goblin Studios LLC, which is one person (for now). There are no investors, so nothing pushes Ink Raven toward ads or a quick sale. We're not a lich (yet), so we can't promise to live forever. Supporting Ink Raven is the best way to keep it going, and to fund the phylactery. You can export your posts and characters whenever you like. Your story should never depend on Ink Raven sticking around.
